Held annually in Miami Beach each June, ABFF screens independent films, network television premieres, and studio features alongside panels, pitch competitions, and networking events. The festival has launched the careers of directors like Ryan Coogler, Ava DuVernay, and Will Packer, and attracts studio executives, talent agents, actors, writers, and filmmakers from across the industry. ABFF's signature programs include the HBO Short Film Competition, the Comedy Wings Competition sponsored by Kevin Hart's HartBeat Productions, and executive roundtables with decision-makers from major networks and streamers.
The Roots Picnic

The Roots Picnic was founded by The Roots, the Philadelphia hip-hop band led by Questlove and Black Thought, in 2008. Held annually at The Mann in Fairmount Park, the picnic has become one of the most culturally respected music festivals in the Black music ecosystem. Past lineups have included Jay-Z, Lauryn Hill, Mary J. Blige, Erykah Badu, Lil Wayne, SZA, Lil Uzi Vert, Usher, and Ms. Lauryn Hill performing alongside The Roots as backing band. Beyond the music, the festival is known for its podcast stages, surprise guests, and intergenerational appeal, drawing both longtime hip-hop fans and a younger generation of Black music lovers.
100 Black Men of America Annual Conference

100 Black Men of America traces its origins to a 1963 New York chapter founded by leaders including David Dinkins and Robert Mangum, with the national organization established in 1986. The Annual Conference brings together leaders, mentors, and members from chapters across the United States and internationally for several days of programming focused on mentoring, education, health and wellness, and economic empowerment. The conference features keynote addresses, workshops, youth programming through the 100's Collegiate 100 and youth groups, and recognition ceremonies. Past speakers and honorees have included some of the most prominent Black executives, athletes, and political figures in the country.
Capital Jazz Festival

The Capital Jazz Festival was founded in 1992 and held annually at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, Maryland, just outside Washington, DC. Over three days each June, the festival features more than 30 performances across contemporary jazz, R&B, soul, and gospel. Past headliners have included Najee, Kem, Maze featuring Frankie Beverly, Patti LaBelle, Charlie Wilson, Will Downing, and Jeffrey Osborne. The festival has become a fixture on the calendar of Black professionals across the DMV region and the broader East Coast, attracting a multi-generational audience known for showing up dressed and ready to celebrate.
Odunde Festival

Odunde Festival was founded in 1975 by Lois Fernandez and Ruth Arthur as a celebration of the African New Year and the cultural heritage of African and African American communities in Philadelphia. Held annually on the second Sunday in June, Odunde spans 15 city blocks in South Philadelphia and includes a traditional procession from 23rd and South Streets to the Schuylkill River, where offerings are made to Oshun, the Yoruba river goddess. The festival features African and African diaspora music, dance, art, food, and craft vendors, drawing over 500,000 attendees and ranking among the largest African American street festivals on the East Coast.
