Pan African Film and Arts Festival

The Pan African Film and Arts Festival was founded in 1992 by Ayuko Babu, Danny Glover, and Ja'Net DuBois as a celebration of Black film and visual art from across the African diaspora. Held each February in Los Angeles, PAFF has grown into the largest Black film festival in the United States, screening over 150 films from filmmakers in Africa, the Caribbean, Latin America, Europe, Canada, and the United States. The festival also includes an art exhibition featuring works by Black and Brown artists, alongside panel discussions, filmmaker Q&As, and student programming. PAFF holds Academy Award qualifying status in its narrative and documentary short film categories.

Hilton Head Island Gullah Celebration

The Hilton Head Island Gullah Celebration was founded in 1996 to honor the cultural traditions of the Gullah Geechee people, descendants of enslaved Africans who settled in the Sea Islands and coastal regions of South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida. Held throughout February each year, the celebration spans four weeks and includes an arts and crafts marketplace, the De Aarts Ob We People exhibit, a Freedom Day reenactment, Gullah cuisine demonstrations, a film festival, a children's heritage day, and the closing De Gullah Smokin' Blues evening. The celebration has been recognized by the Library of Congress as one of the most authentic preservations of African American heritage culture in the United States.

AfrobeatsFEST 757

AfrobeatsFEST 757 is an annual festival held in Norfolk, Virginia celebrating Afrobeats music and African diaspora culture in the Hampton Roads region. The three-day festival features live performances from established and emerging Afrobeats, Amapiano, and Afro-fusion artists, alongside DJ sets, African and Caribbean food vendors, fashion presentations from African designers, and community programming. The festival has grown rapidly and has positioned itself as the premier Afrobeats event in the Mid-Atlantic, drawing attendees from Washington DC, Maryland, North Carolina, and the broader region.
